Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, born as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on 9 September 1967, is a highly acclaimed Indian actor and film producer, known for his prolific work in the Hindi cinema. Known in the media as 'Khiladi Kumar', he has carved out an illustrious career spanning over three decades, during which he has appeared in more than 150 films. He started his career in 1991 with 'Saugandh', and first tasted commercial success the following year with the action thriller 'Khiladi'. Over the years, he has won numerous awards including two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards. The Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honor, in 2009.

Born in Delhi, India and later acquiring Canadian citizenship (2011-2023), Akshay is recognized as one of the most prolific actors in the Indian cinema, demonstrating his versatility through numerous romantic, action, and slapstick comic performances. Forbes included him in their lists of both highest-paid celebrities and highest-paid actors globally from 2015 to 2020. His striking presence and wide-ranging roles in films such as 'Mohra', 'Dhadkan', 'Hera Pheri', and 'Garam Masala', to name just a few, further underline his status as a leading figure in the Indian film industry. His mainstream success continued to soar with four consecutive box-office hits in 2007, followed by critically acclaimed roles. His role in 'Rustom' won him the National Film Award for Best Actor. He also gained recognition for his self-produced social films 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Pad Man'. Alongside his acting career, Akshay also served as a stunt actor and set up martial arts training schools for women's safety in India.
