Umesh, a photographer, is arrested for the murder of his newspaper editor. The case hinges on an earlier altercation and the murder weapon—knife—found in his hands at the scene, giving the prosecution a seemingly airtight narrative. In the courtroom, the defense attorney Sahni comes close to clearing him, but an eyewitness named Jai Kumar enters and delivers testimony that seals a death sentence for Umesh.
