Raj Malhotra Akshay Kumar, Boney Deepak Tijori, Neelam Chaudhary Ayesha Jhulka, and Sheetal Sabeeha are four college pranksters who juggle studies with a steady stream of audacious bets and impulsive bets that push the boundaries of their carefree lives. Raj Malhotra, the younger brother of Inspector Suresh Malhotra, hatches a bold dare to extort money from the wealthy Kailash Nath Prem Chopra, a man whose wealth and influence loom large over the campus and the city. Sheetal is Kailash Nath’s daughter, while Neelam Chaudhary is a young heiress whose only living relative is her uncle, a detail that shadows the group’s reckless game with a tinge of mystery.

The plan is simple on the surface: trick Kailash Nath into believing Sheetal has been kidnapped, while the pranksters themselves hide out in a cottage near Bombay owned by Pillai, turning the scheme into a real-feel ransom. Raj outfits Boney to pose as one of the kidnappers, and the team sets their impromptu trap in motion. Kailash Nath panics, choosing not to rush to the police, hoping to outsmart the situation with a quick payout. Yet suspicion gnaws at one of his aides, and the investigative itch lands with Inspector Suresh Malhotra on the trail. The gang’s nerve is stretched as they watch the plan unfold, the money is handed over, and they return to greet the skeptical Neelam, who comes to collect the supposed ransom.

What begins as a high-stakes prank quickly spirals into a tragedy: Sheetal arrives at the scene with a strange, unsettled look and collapses, a knife buried in her back. The group freezes for a moment, then scrambles to conceal the body and shield themselves from blame. They manage to hide Sheetal’s body in the decklid of a car parked in a theatre lot, swapping the illusion of danger for the hard truth that someone may be onto them. When Sheetal’s death is discovered, the newly intensified danger makes Kailash Nath’s money look like a fragile shield against a far more dangerous game.

Meanwhile, a subplot unfurls around Julie, a renowned dancer who has been blackmailing Kailash Nath for a hefty price. Julie’s entrance adds a new level of complexity to the plot: she demands money and forces Kailash Nath to attend a dance show where the prize will be paid. Neelam’s world collides with this theater of secrets when her guardian’s influence and money come under scrutiny, and Raj and Boney decide to participate in the event. During the show, Boney spots Julie and recognizes her as the same woman who nearly ended their lives in a previous encounter, intensifying his resolve to uncover the truth.

As nerves tighten, Suresh grows convinced that the trio is tangled in something more than a prank, and he confronts Raj. In the shadows, Boney moves toward Julie’s dressing room, where he hears hushed voices and peeks through the door. Julie confesses to a man that she tried to kill the gang on his orders, and the man who accompanies her eliminates Julie in a brutal act. The killer, unseen by Boney at that moment, sends goons to silence him as well. The trio then learns that Boney has vanished and that Neelam’s life is in danger.

Raj and Suresh race to Neelam’s hostel, where the watchman lies dead and danger seems imminent. In a tense confrontation, Neelam defends herself from the attacker, throwing him out of a window and barely surviving the assault. The killer’s face remains elusive, but the weight of the mystery shifts when the trail leads back to the man who oversees Neelam’s estate. In a dramatic interrogation, that man reveals a calculated motive: he is not Neelam’s uncle but the estate’s manager, placed in charge by her dying father. The will stipulates that if Neelam dies before she turns 18, the manager inherits the estate; with her now grown past the age threshold, his plan needed a staged accident to keep the inheritance intact.

What follows is a meticulous unravelling of the conspiracy. The manager had shipped Neelam to Bombay under the pretense of higher education, arranging Julie’s scheme to eliminate the gang and write off Neelam’s death as an accident. When Julie fails, he takes matters into his own hands—first by killing Sheetal, whom he mistakes for Neelam, and then by orchestrating an intricate cover-up. With the charges cleared thanks to the gang’s steadfast honesty, Boney regains his footing, and Kailash Nath’s money is returned. In a moment of grudging wisdom, Kailash Nath forgives the entire escapade, warning the four friends not to test the line between prank and real danger again, and to respect the trust that governs the lives of others.

In the end, what started as a reckless dare becomes a case of misdirection, deception, and a stark reminder that wealth and guardianship can be weaponized, but truth and accountability still hold the ultimate power to set things right.
