Peter Jackson was born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1961 and is 64 years old. Credited on films since 1965, as both an actor and a director. The background, training and the roles that shaped the career.

Sir Peter Robert Jackson ONZ KNZM (born 31 October 1961) is a New Zealand filmmaker best known as the director, writer, and producer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003) and the Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014), which are adapted from the novels of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien. Jackson began his career with horror comedies before moving to mainstream prominence in the film industry. He has three Academy Awards for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Among other awards, he has three BAFTAs, a Golden Globe, two Primetime Emmy Awards and four Saturn Awards. His production company is WingNut Films.

Outside of directing, Jackson has a keen interest in aviation and owns a collection of over 40 WWI-era warbirds housed at Hood Aerodome. He also owns an aircraft restoration and manufacturing company known as The Vintage Aviator. Jackson is known for his attention to detail, a habit of shooting scenes from many angles, a macabre sense of humour, and a general playfulness. Over time, his films have garnered numerous awards and acclaim, establishing him as one of the foremost filmmakers in the industry.
