In terms of overall impact, Housefull 4 falls short of delivering a cohesive cinematic experience. Critics and audiences highlight a lack of narrative logic, weak visual craftsmanship, and uneven humor, which collectively diminish its appeal. While a few viewers enjoy its slap‑stick moments when expectations are lowered, the prevailing sentiment is that the film offers little lasting value. Consequently, its overall impression remains largely negative.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for Housefull 4
Art & Craft
The film’s direction and visual execution show limited ambition, with reviewers noting a hurried pace and a lack of stylistic flair. Cinematography receives no specific praise, and editing appears functional rather than inventive. Production design is not highlighted, suggesting it does not stand out. Overall, the art and craft elements are perceived as subpar, contributing little to the film’s appeal.
Character & Emotion
Acting performances receive mixed reactions; Akshay Kumar’s presence is praised, yet supporting cast members are described as weak or even uncomfortable to watch. Character depth is largely absent, with many reviewers calling the roles formulaic and lacking emotional resonance. The chemistry among leads does not compensate for these shortcomings, resulting in a generally unfavourable view of the film’s character work.
Story & Flow
The narrative is criticized for incoherence and a reliance on predictable, formulaic humor, with several reviewers stating the plot makes little sense. Originality is reported as absent, and pacing is described as uneven, causing audience disengagement. While a minority acknowledge that turning off critical thinking can make the story tolerable, the dominant assessment is that the story component is weak.
Sensory Experience
Soundtrack and audio elements are largely disparaged, with comments about cheap songs and lackluster music that fail to enhance scenes. Visual style receives little commendation, indicating an absence of distinctive cinematographic choices. The overall sensory experience is therefore viewed as flat, offering minimal emotional or atmospheric support to the film’s comedic intentions.
Rewatch Factor
The film provides occasional moments of slap‑stick amusement that some viewers find entertaining enough for repeat viewings when expectations are low. A few audience members describe it as a guilty‑pleasure that can be revisited for its absurd jokes. However, the majority view the experience as tiring and lacking substance, limiting its long‑term rewatch appeal.

Which brother works as a barber?
Read the complete plot summary of Housefull 4, including all major events, twists, and the full ending explained in detail. Explore key characters, themes, hidden meanings, and everything you need to understand the story from beginning to end.
Housefull 4 stitches together a sprawling, time-bending comedy about love that spans six centuries, jumping from 1419 Madhavgarh to 2019 Sitamgarh and London in a riotous quest for a happily-ever-after.
In 2019, three brothers—Harry, Roy, and Max—live in London. Harry, a barber with a tendency to blank out at loud noises, starts having vivid visions of a past life. When he misplaces a bag containing £5 million belonging to gangsters Michael and Big Bhai, the brothers find themselves drawn into a high-stakes scheme to settle the debt. To pay off the gang, they hatch a plan to marry into the wealthy Thakral family, courting sisters Pooja, Neha, and Kriti. Yet love doesn’t align with the plan: they fall for the wrong sisters, and wedding arrangements explode into chaos in Sitamgarh.
Back in Sitamgarh, the hotel bellboy Akhri Pasta identifies the trio as reincarnations of people from the 1419 era. Through Harry’s visions and Pasta’s memories, the brothers begin to recall their past lives. In 1419, Bala Dev Singh—the prince of Madhavgarh and a would-be king—gets exiled for plotting against his father and sets his sights on Princess Madhu, the eldest daughter of Sitamgarh’s king Surya Singh Rana [Suryabhan]. Bala’s allies—dance teacher Bangdu Bangdu Maharaj and bodyguard Dharamputra Dharamputra—loved Madhu’s sisters, Mala Mala and Meena Meena. Desperate to seize Sitamgarh’s throne, Suryabhan sabotages their wedding mandap, sparking a battle with the leader’s brother, Gama Gama. In the ensuing chaos, Suryabhan’s treachery leads to the dismantling of the wedding and the deaths that follow.
In the present, the truth comes into sharper focus: the brothers are fated to marry the wrong sisters (Harry with Pooja, Roy with Neha, Max with Kriti), mirroring their past lives (Bala–Madhu, Bangdu–Mala, Dharamputra–Meena). Pasta helps unlock these memories, and a painting of the 1419 wedding triggers a shared awakening for the sisters as well. The plot thickens as Pappu Rangeela—the reincarnation of Gama—and Ramsey Baba Ramsey Baba disrupt the ceremony, while Kriti unveils Suryabhan’s earlier betrayal. In a dramatic moment, Pappu pushes Michael Bhai into a collapsing mandap, avenging his brother’s death. The story closes on a high note, with the intended pairs restored: Harry with Kriti, Roy with Pooja, and Max with Neha, sealing a 600-year-old romance with a jubilant wedding.
