Angie Dickinson, born as Angeline Brown on September 30, 1931, is a celebrated American actress. She carved her successful career on television, appearing in numerous anthology series during the 1950s. The breakthrough in her career unfolded with 'Gun the Man Down' (1956), and the widely acclaimed Western film 'Rio Bravo' (1959) where she shared the screen with renowned actors, John Wayne and Dean Martin. This role garnered her a Golden Globe Award for the New Star of the Year. In her illustrious career, Dickinson has graced over 50 films like 'Ocean's 11' (1960), 'Point Blank' (1967), and 'Big Bad Mama' (1974) among others.
From 1974 to 1978, Dickinson starred as Sergeant 'Pepper' Anderson in the NBC crime series, 'Police Woman', earning her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. During the latter phase of her career, she starred in several television movies, miniseries and had supporting roles in films such as 'Even Cowgirls Get the Blues' (1994), 'Sabrina' (1995), and 'Pay It Forward' (2000). Her last performance to date has been in the Hallmark channel film, 'Mending Fences' (2009). Dickinson has also been part of high rated mini-series like 'Hollywood Wives' (1985) and received honorary doctorate from the Los Angeles Police Department in 1987.
