Kapoor first graced Bollywood with a small role in the romance Hamare Tumhare (1979), subsequently rising to stardom with breakthrough performances in various action films such as Mashaal (1984), Meri Jung (1985), Karma (1986), and Mr. India (1987). Kapoor's commercial success soon stretched beyond borders with his role in the acclaimed drama Slumdog Millionaire (2008), followed by an appearance in the eighth season of the action series 24 in 2010 and in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011). Kapoor's contribution to the film industry also extends behind the scenes, as the actor has produced several films since 2005. His first international role in Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire marked a significant point in his career, earning rave reviews and multiple international awards.
