Raja Anil Kapoor is a small-time crook who runs the black market for railway tickets at Amirpur Station, always dreaming of a bigger score. Frustrated with the routine, he teams up with his friend Ghafoor and a police inspector to pull off a daring heist, stealing Rs 2.5 million from the railway treasury. The plan spirals out of control when Raja and Gafoor end up eliminating the inspector and fleeing with the loot to Mumbai, hoping to start anew away from the prying eyes of their hometown.

At the bustling Mumbai airport, Raja lays eyes on Neha Sharma Juhi Chawla Mehta and is instantly smitten. The two soon end up at the same hotel, where Raja and Gafoor uncover that Neha is a psychiatrist. To win her over, Raja adopts the alias Raj Kumar and spins a yarn about having just returned from America, while claiming that Gafoor is suffering from a peculiar mental quirk that makes him see beauty as his bhabhi. Yet Gafoor himself warns Raja to slow down and be patient in matters of love, hinting at the risks of rushing into romance.

The emotional triangle intensifies when Bunnu, the troubled son of a wealthy businessman, is brought to Neha for treatment. Bunnu battles multiple phobias—fire, heights, running, and water—and Neha guides him through these fears with the idea of taking “baby steps.” As Bunnu begins to trust her, he falls for Neha and recognizes a rival in Raja, whose daring and charm threaten to steal the woman they both seem to love. Neha travels with her father to Ooty for her uncle’s wedding, but she leaves no forwarding address, setting up a high-stakes chase back and forth between the two men.

In a tense turn, both Raja and Bunnu resort to impersonating policemen to pressure Neha’s secretary into revealing her whereabouts. Neha is thrilled to see them in Ooty, yet she finds herself drawn more to the ill Bunnu’s vulnerability than to Raja’s audacious seductions. The surprise comes when the two men discover that Neha is actually planning to marry Prem [Salman Khan] in a ceremony that will seal a formal alliance. In a surprising twist, Raja and Bunnu end up serving as witnesses to Neha’s wedding, their rivalry paused by the revelation of her true intentions.
