Berit Elisabet Andersson, known professionally as Bibi Andersson, (11 November 1935 – 14 April 2019) was a celebrated Swedish actress, famed for her extensive collaborations with acclaimed filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. She was born in Kungsholmen, Stockholm, to Karin (née Mansion), a social worker, and Josef Andersson, a businessman. She had her first collaboration with Bergman in 1951 and then furthered her acting studies at the Terserus Drama School and at the Royal Dramatic Theatre School. She joined the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm afterwards. Notably, she starred in 10 motion pictures and three television films directed by Bergman throughout the 50s, 60s, and 70s and was awarded Best Actress at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival for Bergman's film, Brink of Life. In 1963 she won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for her performance in Vilgot Sjöman's The Mistress. Particularly noteworthy was her intense role in the film Persona (1966). Beyond her work with Bergman, she acted with John Huston, Robert Altman, and was co-star to Steve McQueen in An Enemy of the People (1977). In the 1990s she ventured into theatre direction in Stockholm. Throughout 1980s and 1990s she worked primarily in television and as a theatre actress.
