Liv Johanne Ullmann, born on December 16, 1938, is a groundbreaking Norwegian actress celebrated as one of the greatest European actresses of all time. Known for her repeated collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, she has acted in numerous films such as Persona, Cries and Whispers, Scenes from a Marriage, The Passion of Anna, and Autumn Sonata. Recognized for her critical and award-winning performances, Ullmann was awarded a Golden Globe in 1972 for the film The Emigrants and received subsequent nominations. She was also nominated for the Palme d'Or for her second directorial feature, Faithless.

Her acting contributions were not limited to film; she engaged in several theatrical performances, most notably as Nora in Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House. Her enriching relationship with Bergman fueled her acting career, leading to extraordinary performances in 10 of his films. Ullmann was nominated over 40 times for different awards and won the best actress prize from major film critics societies such as the National Society of Film Critics and the National Board of Review.
