The Little Mermaid 2024

Under the vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea, within the enchanting kingdom of Atlantica, we meet the curious mermaid princess Ariel. Fascinated by the mysteries of the human world, she spends her time collecting rare artifacts in her grotto, despite never having experienced life above the waves. This insatiable curiosity goes against the wishes of her father, King Triton, who has forbidden all merfolk from surfacing due to the tragedy of Ariel’s mother’s death at the hands of a human.

Accompanied by her loyal companion Flounder and the comically misguided seagull Scuttle, Ariel’s fascination with humans only deepens when she witnesses breathtaking fireworks in the sky. These spectacular displays originate from the ship of Prince Eric, a handsome human from a nearby island. Unfortunately, fate intervenes when a violent storm causes the ship to wreck against the rocky shores, forcing everyone to abandon ship. In a heroic act, Ariel plunges into the tumultuous sea to rescue Eric, bringing him safely to shore and singing to him before vanishing, leaving him oblivious to her identity.

Troubled by Ariel’s distracted demeanor, King Triton seeks answers from his advisor, the wise crab Sebastian. Sebastian reveals Ariel’s encounter with a human, prompting Triton to confront her in her grotto, where he becomes furious and demands that she promise never to return to the surface. When Ariel stubbornly refuses, Triton, in a fit of rage, destroys her treasured collection of human artifacts.

In her despair, Ariel is approached by two serpentine eels sent by Ursula, the sea witch and Triton’s estranged sister, who was exiled from Atlantica fifteen years ago. Intrigued by the prospect of becoming human, Ariel strikes a deal with Ursula: she will trade her beautiful voice for three days of human life. During this time, she must obtain “true love’s kiss” from Eric, or else she will revert to her mermaid form and become Ursula’s property forever. With newfound human legs, she leaps to the surface with the help of Sebastian and Flounder, where she is quickly taken to Eric’s castle.

As Ariel meets Eric, it becomes apparent that the prince is determined to find the mysterious girl who saved him. Together, they explore Eric’s collection of artifacts, and the seeds of romance are sown. But unbeknownst to Ariel, Ursula has manipulated her spell, intending for Ariel to forget the crucial task of kissing Eric. With Sebastian rallying the support of Scuttle and Flounder, they attempt several plans to prompt the kiss, each thwarted by Ursula’s cunning eels.

In a dramatic twist, Ursula transforms into the alluring Vanessa, using Ariel’s voice to enchant and mislead Eric into believing she is the one who saved him. Back in Atlantica, King Triton grows concerned about Ariel’s well-being and begins to regret his harsh treatment of her. When Ariel learns that Eric plans to announce his engagement to Vanessa, she races to the party, revealing Ursula’s true colors. As the confrontation intensifies, Ariel manages to break the shell holding her voice, freeing herself from Ursula’s spell and breaking the enchantment over Eric.

However, just as Ariel and Eric are about to share a kiss, the sun sets, and Ariel transforms back into a mermaid, leading to her being captured by Ursula. In her pursuit of Ariel, Triton confronts Ursula, but the terms of the deal are inescapable. In a dramatic act of love, he sacrifices himself for his daughter, becoming a shadow of his former self and relinquishing his control over Atlantica.

With Ursula now wielding the trident, she declares herself Queen of the Seven Seas, summoning storms and chaos. But Eric, driven by love, arrives in time with a harpoon. When he attempts to save Ariel, Ursula grows monstrous and dangerous, leading to an epic battle where Ariel, with her courageous spirit, commandeers a sunken ship. She delivers a decisive blow to Ursula, ultimately leading to her demise. In the aftermath, Triton is restored to life, and the bond between father and daughter is reaffirmed through mutual sacrifice.

With the conflict behind them, Ariel returns to her underwater home, filled with longing for Eric. Under Sebastian’s wise counsel, Triton grants Ariel a permanent transformation into a human, allowing her to reunite with Eric. As they stand together on the beach, the couple decides to embark on a shared adventure, blending their worlds with the blessings of their families and the approval of both lands, marking a new beginning filled with promise and love.
