Ryan Kyle Coogler is a celebrated American filmmaker, with an impressive portfolio that includes award-winning films such as 'Fruitvale Station', 'Creed', and the groundbreaking 'Black Panther'. Born on May 23, 1986, in Oakland, California, Coogler has been active in the film industry since 2009. He made his feature-length debut with the independent film 'Fruitvale Station' (2013), which won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Since then, Coogler co-wrote and directed 'Creed' (2015), an entry in the Rocky series, and 'Black Panther' (2018), which broke numerous box office records and became the highest-grossing film of all time by an African American director. He also co-wrote and directed its sequel 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' (2022). Coogler frequently collaborates with actor Michael B. Jordan. His work is critically acclaimed for centering on often overlooked cultures and characters, particularly African Americans. In 2013, he was included in Time's 30 Under 30 list. He was the runner-up of Time's Person of the Year 2018, and also featured in the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
