Minami Takayama (高山 みなみ, Takayama Minami) is a notable Japanese voice actress, narrator, and singer born Izumi Arai (新井 泉). Affiliated with 81 Produce, she is also recognized as the main vocalist of Two-Mix and ES CONNEXION when active. Born on May 5, 1964, in Adachi, Tokyo, Japan, she began her illustrious career in 1987, best known for her roles in several acclaimed series and films including Detective Conan as Conan Edogawa, Ranma ½ as Nabiki Tendo, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood as Envy. Her uncle, Hisashi Shinma, was a former New Japan Pro-Wrestling managing director. From an early age, Takayama was fascinated with acting and studied ballet, Japanese dance,and vocal music. She won a radio disc jockey contest in high school which bolstered her love for radio and voice work. She initially auditioned for female roles but found her niche in voicing male characters. Her breakthrough occurred with roles in two significant projects; the animated film Kiki's Delivery Service and the Ranma ½ series. Furthermore, her involvement in several other highly popular series such as Moomin, Yaiba, and Nintama Rantarō produced long-standing characters for over 20 years. In the music industry, she holds integral roles in various groups and has performed theme songs for notable series such as Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. Minami Takayama was awarded the Synergy Award at the 5th Seiyu Awards and was also a popular voice actor voted on the TV Asahi 3-hour special earning 7th place.**
