She earned her fame as a Hollywood film star in the 1940s and 1950s. De Carlo also showcased her talent in several recordings and later expanded her career into television and stage. Noteworthy performances include Sephora in Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments (1956) and the CBS sitcom, The Munsters (1964–1966).
