Prateik Smita Patil (born Prateik Babbar on 28 November 1986) is an Indian actor best known for his work in Hindi cinema. The son of celebrated actress Smita Patil and veteran actor‑politician Raj Babbar, he entered the world amid tragedy, as his mother passed away shortly after his birth. Raised by his maternal grandparents in Mumbai, Prateik experienced a complex relationship with his father, whom he described as “always busy with his other family,” though the two later reconciled in adulthood. After a brief stint as a production assistant for advertisement filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar, Prateik broke into Bollywood with the Aamir Khan‑produced Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008), earning critical praise and a Special Jury award at the Filmfare Awards.
