Uday leaves his village for the United States, telling his little brother Ramakant to always remember his words and to write home once he reaches Umrika. As his mother weeps at the doorstep, Rama begs him to stay in touch, and Uday’s promise to keep the family updated fills the air with a fragile hope that the distance can be bridged by letters.

After their father’s death, Rama uncovers a troubling truth: the letters his family has been receiving from Uday were forged by their father and uncle, and Uday himself vanished upon reaching the port city of Mumbai. Determined to find him, Rama undertakes a difficult journey that plunges him into a world far removed from the village’s quiet routines.

Rama learns that his brother had been working as a barber in Mumbai, in a small, rural-like corner of the city, a detail that unsettles but also motivates him to press on. In a moment of desperation, Rama turns to a trafficking gang led by an underground gangster, who imposes a steep price—2 lakh rupees—to ferry him to New York City. Without flinching, Rama pays the money, driven by a single, painful hope: to reach Uday and uncover the truth behind the mysterious letters and the disappearance.

That same day, Rama is summoned to a secluded place, where the plane of his fate becomes clearer but no less harrowing. He is dropped off at a port and discovers that his brother is working as an assistant for the underground boss, a realization that shatters any pretense of seeing him again in a straightforward reunion. Rather than meeting with warmth, Rama boards a container alongside other young people, thrust into a perilous voyage that signals the brutal reality of human trafficking.

As the ship makes its slow journey toward New York City, the camera follows the endless ocean and the quiet, hopeful tension that lingers in the air. The film’s closing image returns to Uday, standing at the back of the vessel, watching the container ship disappear into the vast blue—a stark reminder of the distance, danger, and desperation that define the brothers’ intertwined fates.
