Jack Carson: Movies & Box Office

John Elmer Carson, better known as Jack Carson, was a Canadian-born American film actor who had a prolific career in the movie industry spanning from the 1930s to 1960s. He often played comedic roles and was especially known for his performances in films of the 1940s and 1950s. Two of his most famous works include 'The Strawberry Blonde' (1941) with James Cagney and 'Arsenic and Old Lace' (1944) with Cary Grant. However, he didn't limit himself to one genre, appearing in dramas such as 'A Star is Born' (1954) and 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' (1958).

Jack Carson was born in Carman, Manitoba, and later moved to the United States, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1949. Despite his early roles in stage productions being influenced by his size, he soon turned to vaudeville with partner Dave Willock, before later transitioning to radio. His radio work led to the making of a name for himself in the film industry. His contributions to the television and radio industry were recognized when he received two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
