Harris Wagner grows increasingly suspicious that his grandson, Jay Wagner, is entangled in his own illicit business schemes that, wittingly or not, involve the CIA. To quiet any risk without drawing attention, Harris has a CIA operative named Cable arrange a murder in Mexico that would frame Jay. He doesn’t desire Jay dead—only silenced—so Jay ends up imprisoned in a Mexican jail, a setup designed to keep him from interfering with Harris’s plans.
Back in Texas, Jay’s wife, Ann, balks at this grim turn of events and turns to desperate measures. She hires a rough-and-ready Texas bush pilot from Brownsville, Nick Colton, and his partner Hawk Hawkins, to mount a daring rescue. The plan unfolds in stages: the first attempts falter, so Colton teaches himself to pilot a helicopter to increase their odds. Meanwhile, Hawk and their accomplice Myrna craft a clever distraction by feigning a rape to pull the prison guards away from their posts.
With the guards momentarily diverted, Colton climbs into a helicopter and flies into the prison complex. The plan works in a high-stakes, heart-pounding sequence: Jay Wagner is hoisted aboard, and the group makes a rapid exit, fleeing back to Texas in a small, four-seat light aircraft. The escape triggers a furious response from Harris, who orders Cable to Texan soil to thwart the fugitives. Cable drives a sleek Citroën SM with Washington, D.C. license plates, keeping close tabs on Ann as she guides them toward the hidden trail that may lead to Jay.
Cable deploys a ruse, using false identification to pull Jay Wagner away from the rest of the group when they touch down. The ruse almost succeeds, but Colton senses something isn’t right and gives chase. What follows is a tense convergence of pursuit and counter-pursuit that culminates in a dramatic runway clash as Cable and Colton collide amid departing airplanes at Brownsville Airport.
Throughout this high-stakes chase, loyalties are tested, and the line between ruthless scheming and protective love blurs. The narrative threads—family, crime, and a desperate rescue—collide in a compact, action-driven finale that keeps the focus on the dynamics between the core players as they race toward a final confrontation on the tarmac.
