Breaker! Breaker! 1977

John David ‘J.D.’ Dawes, Chuck Norris, a trucker from California, returns from the road with a heavy burden to learn that an old friend has been assaulted and left paralyzed by Sergeant Strode, Don Gentry, a corrupt policeman in Texas City, California. Through wary conversations and uneasy town rumors, J.D. discovers a troubling pattern: Strode and Deputy Bowles, Ron Cedillos, have long trapped truckers to feed the rackets run by the town’s crooked Judge Trimmings, George Murdock. The sense of danger grows as J.D. realizes this is not just a personal vendetta but a systemic corruption that threatens anyone who travels the road.

When his younger brother Billy Dawes, Michael Augenstein, starts working as a trucker, J.D. warns him to steer clear of Texas City. But Billy is quickly drawn in by a familiar lure on the CB radio, where Strode poses as a fellow trucker, pulling him into a trap and pulling him closer to danger. The disappearance of Billy propels J.D. into a desperate search, forcing him to confront the very people who weaponize the road.

A confrontation with the owner of the local wrecking yard ends in tragedy when J.D. unintentionally kills the man, and he is arrested and sentenced to death by Judge Trimmings. The weight of the charges hangs heavy as J.D. faces a system that seems determined to crush him, yet his fellow truckers refuse to back down. They rally to rescue J.D. and Billy, delivering a brutal blow to Strode by knocking him into a ditch, then tearing through the town with their massive rigs, a display of raw, collective power.

The pursuit leads to a tense rescue in a barn, where J.D. finally locates Billy. A showdown with Deputy Bowles follows in a horse corral, where J.D. knocks Bowles out and seizes the moment of reckoning. In the culmination of the town’s upheaval, one of the trucks drives its rig into Judge Trimmings’s house while he lies in bed with his wife, as the rest of the corrupt town goes up in flames, signaling the end of a chapter of exploitation and the beginning of a harsh, hard-won justice on the road.
