Alejandro Rey was born on February 8, 1930, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He initially gained fame as an actor in Argentine films before his transition to American television. An accomplished actor, Rey experienced significant career growth when he studied acting under Hedwig Schlichter and Milagros de la Vega. His career took a substantial turn in 1957 when he participated in 'El Diablo de vacaciones'. His role in this film was instrumental, and his career rose to new heights, leading to his engagement in the United States for a small part in the movie 'Battle at Bloody Beach'. Rey was best known for his performances in films such as 'Fun in Acapulco' with Elvis Presley in 1963. Additionally, he made appearances on popular television shows, making a significant impact with his role as the casino owner and playboy Carlos Ramirez on the series 'The Flying Nun' which aired from 1967 to 1970. In the U.S., his only lead role in a film was in 'The Stepmother' in 1972. He continued to stay busy with television roles, appearing on 'Days of Our Lives' from 1976 to 1977 and on several game shows like 'Tattletales', 'He Said, She Said', 'Hollywood Squares', and 'Match Game'. He expanded his career by directing TV shows, with his credits including 'Villa Allegre', 'The Facts of Life', and 'Forever Fernwood'. Rey's life was cut short due to lung cancer. He died on May 21, 1987, at the age of 57.
