Brian Dennehy

Brian Manion Dennehy (July 9, 1938 – April 15, 2020) was an American actor of stage, television, and film. With a career that spanned five decades, Dennehy had a prolific career with roles in over 180 films and many television and stage productions. His notable film works include 'First Blood' (1982), 'Gorky Park' (1983), 'Silverado' (1985), 'Cocoon' (1985), 'F/X' (1986), 'Presumed Innocent' (1990), 'Tommy Boy' (1995), 'Romeo + Juliet' (1996), 'Ratatouille' (2007), and 'Knight of Cups' (2015). He won two Tony Awards, an Olivier Award, and a Golden Globe, and received six Primetime Emmy Award nominations. He was also named as 'perhaps the foremost living interpreter' of playwright Eugene O'Neill's works. Dennehy died in 2020 from cardiac arrest due to sepsis. In the early life, Dennehy was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and was Irish by descent. Before starting his acting career, he spent five years in the U.S. Marines and later graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in history. He had a successful theatrical career in Chicago and also made outstanding performances in New York that lead to television and film work. Dennehy had been married twice, from which he had five children, among them, two followed his steps into acting.
