Sir Patrick Stewart OBE (born 13 July 1940) is an illustrious English actor who began his career in 1966 as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. His expanse of work spans over seven decades, both on stage and screen, earning him significant acclaim including two Laurence Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award. He has also been nominated for a Tony Award, three Golden Globe Awards, four Emmy Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1996. Sir Patrick was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to drama in 2010.

Patrick Stewart's first major screen roles include appearances in Fall of Eagles (1974), I, Claudius (1976) and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (1979). Perhaps most notable among his roles are Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1994), its subsequent films and Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023), as well as his portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men series (2000–2014), Logan (2017) and an alternate version of Xavier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). He has also showed his versatility by making comedic appearances on sitcoms such as Frasier and Extras and voicing numerous animated characters. His early life and career were affected by his experience of domestic violence at home, which has since turned him into a vocal advocate against domestic violence. He also holds dual UK-US citizenship.
