Long before the realm truly settles into its future, the throne is held by Gareth and Rhonu, with dragons weaving through the daily life of the court. Their son, Walter, grows up under the weight of a world where dragon bonds shape politics and power. Walter, Turlough Convery, watches as his father pours himself into dragon-helping duties and as Rhonu’s bond with her dragon ends in tragedy, pushing Walter toward a growing drift away from dragons and the life they demand.
