He entered the industry in 1992 as an assistant director, learning the craft under veterans like Siddique, Fazil, Rafi‑Mecartin, and Rajeev Ravi. His first on‑screen appearance came in Fazil's Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), but it was the supporting role of a PT teacher in Alphonse Putharen's Premam (2015) that catapulted him to fame, earning him widespread recognition. Subsequent performances in Charlie (2015), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016), Kammatipaadam (2016), and Kumbalangi Nights (2019) showcased his versatility, while his lead role in Sudani from Nigeria (2018) won him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor and cemented his status as a top‑tier actor in Malayalam cinema.
