What's After the Movie
Lauren Bacall, born as Betty Joan Perske, was an iconic American actress, model, and spokeswoman. She was lauded as the 20th-greatest female star of classic Hollywood cinema by the American Film Institute and received an Academy Honorary Award in recognition of her contribution to the Golden Age of motion pictures in 2009. Her sultry presence and distinctive, husky voice made her a memorable figure on the silver screen, and she's one of the last surviving major stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema. She started her career as a model and made her film debut at the age of twenty. Throughout her career, she appeared in numerous films like The Big Sleep, Dark Passage, Key Largo, and many more. Bacall also gained recognition for her role in The Mirror Has Two Faces for which she earned a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Notably, she won two Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for her performances in Applause and Woman of the Year. Bacall also had a successful stage career and even debuted in Broadway. Her life was as eventful as her career, with Humphrey Bogart and Jason Robards being her notable spouses, and she shared three children with them. The actress passed away after suffering a stroke in 2014.
