Diamonds 1999

An elderly man and his estranged son set out on a quest for treasure, hoping to repair their fractured relationship. Harry Agensky is a former welterweight boxing champion who now lives in Canada with his son Moses Agensky. But Harry’s other son, Lance Agensky, feels that his father never cared about his dreams, leaving a chilly distance between them. Lance’s relationship with his teenage son, Michael Agensky, is not much better.

Lonely since the death of his wife and weakened by a stroke, Harry dreams of retirement on a ranch in Northern Canada, but the money to buy it isn’t there. Lance, seeking purpose, invites Harry along for a skiing trip with Michael; at the last moment, Harry shifts the plan and proposes a Nevada trip instead. He claims he threw a fight years ago and was paid off with a cache of diamonds hidden somewhere in Reno, and that finding the gems could finally let him buy the ranch. Lance is skeptical, but he goes along with Harry’s plan, and the trio heads toward Nevada in pursuit of the diamonds.

Along the way, they stop at a Nevada brothel run by madame Sin-Dee Sin-Dee, a detour that briefly shakes up their journey. The visit becomes even more personal when 18-year-old Michael asks to join so he can lose his virginity, a moment that tests loyalties and family ties.

As the search for the hidden diamonds unfolds, both father and son confront the consequences of past choices, learn to navigate aging, and discover that reconciliation, however hard, is possible when truth, forgiveness, and shared moments outweigh pride.
