An aging man Harry Agensky [Kirk Douglas] and his estranged son Lance Agensky [Dan Aykroyd] set out on a dual quest—from Canada to Nevada—driven by a legend of diamonds hidden after a fight Harry claims he threw years ago. Their plan is simple in theory: grab the gems, secure a future on a northern Canadian ranch, and maybe repair the fragile bond between father and son. They are joined by Moses Agensky [Kurt Fuller], Harry’s other son, who brings a practical voice to the journey, and Lance’s 18-year-old grandson Michael Agensky [Corbin Allred], who hops along as a chance to step into adulthood and, as he hopes, to lose his virginity.

As the trio travels, old resentments surface and new tensions emerge. Harry’s longing for retirement clashes with Lance’s skepticism about the diamonds and the past that shaped their family; Michael watches and learns as he tries to understand the adults around him and his own place in the world. The journey winds from the quiet corners of Canada to the brighter, riskier lights of Nevada, testing loyalties and forcing each man to confront what he’s willing to sacrifice for family.

On the way, they stop at a Nevada brothel run by Sin-Dee [Lauren Bacall], a place that becomes a turning point in more ways than one. Harry convinces the group to stay, seeking a long-delayed moment of connection; for the first time in eight years, he contemplates intimacy, and the visit stirs talk, confusion, and a clumsy, irrepressible humanity among them. Michael, drawn into the scene, joins his father and grandfather in a palpable mix of curiosity and awe as he steps toward adulthood.

The search for the hidden diamonds becomes more than a treasure hunt; it evolves into a reckoning about aging, regret, and what family means when the past lingers and the future is uncertain. As clues unravel and memories surface, the trio discovers that reconciliation may come at a higher price than wealth, but it offers a chance to redraw the lines of loyalty, forgiveness, and the ties that bind them together. In the end, they learn that some treasure isn’t measured in gems at Reno’s edge, but in the hard-won understanding that grows between a father, a son, and a grandson.
