Sonam Bajwa, born Sonampreet Bajwa on 16 August 1989 in Nainital, Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand), India, emerged from a Punjabi Sikh family to become one of the most celebrated actresses of Punjabi cinema. After completing her graduation at the University of Delhi, she moved to Mumbai in 2012, entered the Femina Miss India contest, and briefly worked as an air‑hostess before committing to acting. Her screen debut came with the Punjabi film Best Of Luck (2013), and she quickly gained recognition with Punjab 1984 (2014) alongside Diljit Dosanjh, marking her entry into mainstream Punjabi storytelling. Over the next decade Bajwa solidified her status as a bankable lead, starring in commercial hits such as Sardaar Ji 2, Nikka Zaildar, Manje Bistre, Carry on Jatta 2, Guddiyan Patole, and Honsla Rakh.
