Honsla Rakh succeeds mainly as an energetic comedy anchored by charismatic leads, while its story and soundtrack lack depth. Reviewers consistently highlight Shehnaaz Gill’s vibrant performance and the chemistry with Diljit Dosanjh, noting that these elements carry the film’s humor. Conversely, several critics point out a thin plot, unoriginal jokes, and subpar songs that diminish engagement. The result is an entertaining but uneven experience that appeals to audiences seeking lighthearted fun.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for Honsla Rakh
Art & Craft
From a visual standpoint, Honsla Rakh offers competent production values, with the Canadian settings providing a pleasant backdrop. Critics note that the cinematography captures the locales adequately, though the direction remains straightforward without distinctive flair. Editing maintains a brisk rhythm suitable for comedy, yet no standout stylistic choices emerge. Overall, the film’s craft is functional but unremarkable.
Character & Emotion
Character work stands out as the film’s strongest element, driven by Shehnaaz Gill’s lively portrayal and Diljit Dosanjh’s seasoned presence. Reviewers commend Gill’s comic timing, expressive gestures, and emotional nuance, while noting effective chemistry between the leads. Supporting actors, including Shinda Grewal and Sonam Bajwa, contribute solid performances that reinforce the ensemble. This collective energy lends the movie genuine charm.
Story & Flow
The narrative delivers a conventional comedy framework that many find familiar yet uninspired. While some reviewers appreciate the light premise and occasional heartfelt moments, criticism centers on a thin plot, predictable jokes, and lack of originality. Pacing remains serviceable, but the script fails to sustain deeper engagement, resulting in a story that functions as a vehicle for jokes rather than a compelling arc.
Sensory Experience
The film’s auditory component draws mixed reactions, with the soundtrack criticized for featuring uninspired Punjabi dance numbers that undermine the overall vibe. Visual styling, however, benefits from the Canadian locations and competent color grading, delivering an appealing backdrop for the comedic tone. Sound design supports the humor without standing out, resulting in a sensory experience that is adequate but not memorable.
Rewatch Factor
Rewatch potential hinges on its humor and charismatic leads rather than narrative depth. Audiences inclined toward lighthearted Punjabi comedy may enjoy revisiting the film for its punchy jokes and lively performances. However, the predictable storyline and forgettable music limit lasting appeal, suggesting that repeat viewings will primarily attract fans of the cast rather than viewers seeking a fresh story.

Initially, both of them introduce Honsla as Yenkey’s younger brother to their family, and Jasmine’s parents agree to their marriage. The situation deteriorates when Sweety and her husband appear at his wedding. Yenkey and Honsla both decide to tell everyone the truth, as he doesn’t want to hurt Jasmine and her parents anymore.
During their engagement, Yenkey tells everyone the truth. He confesses that Sweety was his first wife and Honsla is his and Sweety’s son. Seeing his father sad, Honsla decides to stay with Sweety for his father’s sake, but Yenkey, who loves Honsla, leaves the engagement on the spot.
