Sonam Bajwa

Sonam Bajwa, born Sonampreet Bajwa on 16 August 1989 in Nainital, Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand), India, emerged from a Punjabi Sikh family to become one of the most celebrated actresses of Punjabi cinema. After completing her graduation at the University of Delhi, she moved to Mumbai in 2012, entered the Femina Miss India contest, and briefly worked as an air‑hostess before committing to acting. Her screen debut came with the Punjabi film Best Of Luck (2013), and she quickly gained recognition with Punjab 1984 (2014) alongside Diljit Dosanjh, marking her entry into mainstream Punjabi storytelling. Over the next decade Bajwa solidified her status as a bankable lead, starring in commercial hits such as Sardaar Ji 2, Nikka Zaildar, Manje Bistre, Carry on Jatta 2, Guddiyan Patole, and Honsla Rakh. Her performances earned her two PTC Punjabi Film Awards for Best Actress, notably for Ardab Mutiyaran, and multiple Filmfare Punjabi nominations for Manje Bistre and Nikka Zaildar 2. Expanding beyond regional cinema, she appeared in the Tamil film Kappal (2014) and the Telugu production Aatadukundam Raa (2016), before making a high‑profile Hindi debut in Housefull 5 (2025) opposite Riteish Deshmukh, released in two parallel versions. Beyond awards, Bajwa is celebrated for her fashion sense, repeatedly topping the Chandigarh Times’ Most Desirable Woman list and featuring in nationwide brand endorsements such as Moofarm and Americana biscuits. In 2017 she publicly shared her personal faith, stating she follows Jesus while remaining culturally Sikh, a declaration that sparked widespread media discussion.
