Kalaiyarasan Harikrishnan (born 20 February 1986) is an Indian actor predominantly active in the Tamil film industry, with occasional forays into Malayalam cinema. A graduate in Computer Applications from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, he initially pursued a corporate career at Accenture before transitioning to acting, where his early, unreleased project Arjunan Kadhali (2010) marked his entry into the field. Under the mentorship of director Mysskin, Kalaiyarasan appeared in Nandalala (2010) and Mugamoodi (2012), experiences that honed his craft and established professional relationships that would prove pivotal later. His first noticeable screen presence came with a supporting role in Pa. Ranjith’s Attakathi (2012), followed by a brief appearance in Madha Yaanai Koottam (2013). The breakthrough arrived in 2014 when he embodied the character Anbu in Ranjith’s critically acclaimed drama Madras, a performance praised by Behindwoods and Sify for its intensity and nuanced body language. This role propelled him into higher‑profile projects, including a supporting part in Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Kabali (2016) and lead roles in Darling 2 (2016) and Raja Manthiri (2016). His portrayal of a blind chef in Adhe Kangal (2017) showcased his versatility, drawing inspiration from American chef Christine Hà and earning commendations for authenticity. Subsequent ventures such as Kaalakkoothu (2018), Pattinapakkam (2018) and Kalavu (2019) solidified his reputation as a capable lead in thrillers. From 2021 onward, Kalaiyarasan expanded his repertoire to digital platforms, starring alongside Dhanush in Jagame Thandhiram (2021) on Netflix and featuring in Pa. Ranjith’s Sarpatta Parambarai (2021) and the web series Victim (2022). He ventured into Malayalam cinema with Thankam (2023), 2018 (2023) and Charles Enterprises (2023), while continuing Tamil projects like Vaazhai (2024) and the Telugu film Devara: Part 1 (2024). His personal life remains grounded; he is married to Shanmuga Priya, his former colleague from Accenture, and maintains a relatively private family profile.
