Helga Liné, born Helga Lina Stern on 14 July 1932 in Berlin, emerged from a circus family that fled the Nazi regime for Portugal when she was a child. Beginning her performing arts career at age eight, she dazzled audiences as an acrobat and contortionist, honing a physical grace that later defined her on‑screen presence. After winning a beauty contest, she made her film debut at thirteen in the Spanish‑Portuguese co‑production La mantilla de Beatriz (1946), quickly transitioning into modeling, showgirl work, and the role of vedette across Portugal, Spain, and Brazil. By the early 1960s, after relocating to Madrid, the striking red‑haired actress surged into European genre cinema, becoming a prolific figure in horror, spaghetti westerns, and giallo films. Her collaborations with Spanish horror icon Paul Naschy in Horror Rises from the Tomb and The Mummy's Revenge cemented her status as a quintessential scream queen of the 1970s.
