In Madrid’s bustling heart, two striking lives intersect as if fate had scripted it: Sexilia, a pop star whose public persona hides a compulsive appetite, and Riza Niro, the Emperor of Tirán’s son living incognito and constantly reinventing his appearance to stay anonymous. They drift through a sunlit city market in search of casual connections, while Sexilia pursues treatment for her nymphomania and a fear of sunlight through psychotherapy. Her therapist, a sharp-eyed professional named Susana, becomes entangled in her own desires, notably with Doctor de la Peña, a gynecologist whose clinical coldness clashes with Susana’s ambitions. Meanwhile, Toraya, the former Empress’s widow, reads about Riza’s presence in town and contemplates a plan rooted in old loyalties and new fertility.

As the story unfolds, Riza survives in Madrid by wearing disguises—often a wig and dark glasses—before his paths cross with Fabio, a young junkie who moonlights as a transvestite performer. Enter Sadec, a man with a magnetic pull and a highly developed sense of smell, who teams up with Riza and shares a secret tie to Tirán. The two men strike up a cautious bond, and when Riza is mistaken for someone else, he seizes the chance to reinvent himself as “Johnny,” fronting a punk band that becomes the backdrop for a growing, though carefully restrained, romance with Sexilia. Their relationship grows out of a mutual need for something genuine in a life built on disguises, and they decide to keep their romance chaste, hoping to preserve what feels different from their usual lives.

Meanwhile, Queti, a young dry-cleaning worker, carries a heavy burden at home. Her father’s coercive behavior—reminiscent of the control that torments many after a fractured family history—leaves her emotionally scarred. He fakes care, uses stimulants to drive his libido, and orchestrates abuse on a disturbing schedule, even as Queti secretly tamps down her desires with a drug that dampens libido. When she encounters Sexilia, she finds a confidant in a figure who has known pain of her own, and the two forge an unlikely friendship. The two women hatch a daring plan: Queti would step into Sexilia’s world by swapping identities so Queti can escape her father’s abuse while Sexilia seizes the chance to flee with her lover. This dangerous swap becomes a pivot for the film’s momentum, casting light on power, vulnerability, and the longing for freedom.

Yet the plan meets resistance. Toraya re-enters the picture, determined and provocative, and she targets Riza for a different kind of union. Riza’s loyalty is tested as Toraya’s advances threaten to unravel the carefully woven lives of everyone involved. The emotional center of the tale shifts when Sexilia discovers, through therapy, that Toraya’s presence in her life is linked to the trauma that shaped her—and, paradoxically, to the event that helped shape Riza’s own sexuality. The revelation pushes Sexilia toward an uneasy reunion with Queti, who, having undergone a change in appearance, has stepped into Sexilia’s role in practical terms and begins to see her life anew. Across Madrid’s skyline, Sadec and his shadowy companions plot to seize Riza, aiming to kidnap him for reasons entwined with ideology and personal devotion. Queti’s warnings weave into the larger maelstrom as Toraya and a cadre of Islamic extremists close in on the group. In a climactic sequence, the trio—Sexilia, Riza, and Queti—hasten toward Contadora, a tropical island paradise that promises new beginnings away from the city’s prying eyes. Back in Madrid, the plan to separate identity from longing plays out in a bitter, intimate twist: Queti, now in the image of Sexilia, sleeps with her own father, who, convinced she is his daughter, believes he is truly loving Sexilia for the first time. The consequences ripple outward as Sadec’s crew closes in, catching Toraya at the airport before she and Riza can vanish. On the plane, a final, intimate moment seals the couple’s bond as Sexilia and Riza finally give in to their love, their paths converging on a shared future that had seemed impossible only days earlier, even as danger and deception continue to shadow their flight toward an uncertain horizon.
