In medieval France a cruel warlock is beheaded while his wife suffers torture and execution. Centuries later an isolated community uncovers the warlock’s severed head buried on their land. Alaric de Marnac, a medieval warlock, and his murderous witch Mabille de Lancré are condemned for Satanism and are executed by decapitation in a field. But before their deaths, Alaric curses the descendants of the men who sentence him, warning that their bloodline will bear the consequences for centuries to come. Centuries drift by, and a group of curious young people travels to the old battleground to search for the grave—and the possible treasure—of these two notorious figures. The expedition is led by Hugo de Marnac, the modern‑day descendant of Alaric, who drives the mission forward with a mix of skepticism and resolve.
