Clooney's journey began in television in the late 1970s, gaining wide recognition for his role as Dr. Doug Ross on the NBC medical drama ER, for which he received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. He expanded to leading roles in films, with breakthrough roles in 'From Dusk till Dawn', 'Batman & Robin', 'Out of Sight', among others. Greater recognition came from starring in Soderbergh's Ocean's film series. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the thriller 'Syriana', and earned Best Actor nominations for several films including 'Michael Clayton', 'Up in the Air', and 'The Descendants'. He made his directorial debut with 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind' and has since directed several films including 'Good Night, and Good Luck', 'The Ides of March' and 'The Midnight Sky'. Clooney has received multiple awards and nominations for his work in the film industry, including three Golden Globe Awards and two Academy Awards.
