Franco Fabrizi: Movies & Box Office

Franco Fabrizi, born on 15th of Feburary 1916 in Cortemaggiore, Kingdom of Italy, was an acclaimed Italian actor whose career spanned multiple decades and genres. Son of a barber and a cinema cashier, Fabrizi began his career as a model and an actor in fotoromanzi, also starring in several revues and stage works. His big screen debut was with a supporting role in Chronicle of a Love (Cronaca di un amore), Michelangelo Antonioni's feature film debut in 1950. The role that substantially raised his fame was as Fausto in Federico Fellini's I vitelloni, after which he was often associated with the character of a persistent seducer, a young wastrel. Past the 1950s, Fabrizi mainly featured in character roles in Italian, French and Spanish minor productions, but making significant appearances in major works of Italian cinema. One of his last remarkable roles was in Luchino Visconti's Death in Venice. Unfortunately, Fabrizi's life took a tragic turn in 1993 when he was involved in a serious car accident. During his recovery, he was diagnosed with colon cancer which eventually led to his demise in 1995.
