Paul Kriza, a small‑town bank cashier, husband and father of four, is sent to New York to deliver securities. He is targeted by a con‑game gang; accomplice Mary Brown confirms he’s an easy mark. After being robbed and knocked unconscious, he is left for dead on a railroad track. He survives, kills a henchman when a train passes, but his watch is found and authorities declare him dead, making it impossible for him to return home.
