In a taut postwar crime thriller, four men converge on a midnight heist that promises quick cash but spirals into ruthless betrayal. Mike, an injured ex-boxer, is penniless after his wife Angela hands over their life savings to her criminal brother. At the same time, Joe has just lost his clerical job in the USA as he fights to reclaim Mary, his pregnant English wife who struggles with her clingy, unstable mother. Eddie deserts the US Air Force to win back Denise, his actress wife who has been unfaithful. And Rave, a war veteran turned womaniser and gambler, mooches off his rich wife Eve, who dreams of taking him away to Kenya.
