Cole Reed [Jason Statham] is a former police officer and skilled commando who now works as a bodyguard for Tibu Campallo, a billionaire shipping magnate and the CEO of the cargo company KMG. One night in Bangkok, after a quiet chess game at Tibu’s residence, they head out for a drive, only to be ambushed. Reed fights off the attackers, but Tibu is killed, and with his last breath he tasks Reed with looking after his son, Kameron Campallo [Chaneil Kular]. Reed is promptly framed for the murder, forcing him to go on the run and clear his name while trying to protect Kameron from a dangerous, hidden agenda.

Reed learns that Tibu’s assassins are set to board a cargo ship named Artemis, and he makes a desperate move: he assumes the identity of a dead assassin and boards the vessel himself. On board, he encounters Angie, a fellow KMG employee who has been summoned to replace the assassin Reed has impersonated. Together, they uncover a chilling human trafficking operation operating under the ship’s cover. Reed frees the hostages, and a skirmish erupts when a crew member attacks him as the escape unfolds. Angie quickly dispatches a distress signal that is picked up by the United States Coast Guard, but she is shot in the shoulder and subdued by the crew. The hostages are recaptured, and the tension on Artemis escalates into a deadly cat-and-mouse game.

Reed pieces together that the ship’s captain, Marko Madsen [Steven Blades], is taking orders from Jaran Daniles [Simon Kluth], the person behind Tibu’s assassination. Daniles’ plan aims to derail the sale of KMG and push Kameron toward selling the company to Daniles’ faction. As Reed eliminates most of the crew in a brutal fight, he confronts Marko and kills him with a harpoon gun, sealing the ship’s grim fate. The Coast Guard soon arrives at Artemis’s coordinates and surrounds Reed, still seen as a threat. Angie intervenes, lying that Reed died on the ship and that his body was thrown overboard, allowing Reed to slip away and return to safety.

With the authorities none the wiser, Reed travels back to Thailand by motorboat, intent on finishing what Tibu started. At Tibu’s funeral, Kameron claims he was manipulated by Daniles and the traffickers into pressuring him into selling KMG, leaving Reed to confront the consequences of his former employer’s machinations. Reed then intercepts a car carrying Daniles, crashes it, and kills the driver before interrogating Daniles himself. Daniles reveals that Tibu’s death effectively handed control of KMG to Kameron, and that his real plan was to get Kameron to sell to Daniles so he could inherit the company’s wealth and assets. Daniles attempts to bribe Reed to spare his life, but Reed rejects the offer and makes his motive perfectly clear: his mission is vengeance.
