Chiranjeev/Shekhar Raj Kapoor is a wealthy young man who shares a comfortable life with his father, Kashiram Raj Mehra, and three siblings: two sisters (one of whom is dumb) and a younger brother. The opulent surroundings and family dynamics shape his days, mixing indulgence with the expectations that come with privilege. In this world of status and duty, a chance encounter sets a different course for his heart.

During a trip with friends, Mohan Om Prakash falls seriously ill after a night of drinking and is treated at an Ashram. It is there that Shekhar meets Sharada Ram Sharan Meena Kumari, a poor but resilient young woman who lives with her father, Ram Sharan. The two quickly fall in love, and Shekhar makes a promise to secure his father’s blessing and return to marry her. The connection is tender and real, built on shared values and a desire for a life beyond mere wealth.

On his way back home, Shekhar survives a dangerous accident and is cared for by tribal healers. He returns to the Ashram days later, only to hear shocking news: Sharada is now married to a wealthy, much older man. Heartache and confusion cloud his mind as he grapples with the loss of their future together. The crushing revelation compounds his sense of betrayal and fuels a deep despair, underscored by a sense that fate has unspooled a cruel twist of circumstances.

Back home, Shekhar confronts an even harsher truth: the man Sharada has married is none other than his own father, Kashiram. The blow lands hard, and the young man slips into depression, drifting toward alcohol as an escape from the ache. Sharada intervenes with calm, steady care, helping him find a path away from self-destruction. With a newfound resolve, he seeks redemption through marriage to Chanchal Shyama, a woman from a respected family, hoping to rebuild his life on steadier ground.

Yet the past does not stay quiet. Chanchal soon discovers that her husband’s heart has been entangled with his stepmother for a long time, and that the processes of love and loyalty within this tangled family may not be finished revealing themselves. The film follows how these revelations strain trust, test loyalties, and force each character to navigate the delicate balance between duty, desire, and the pull of unresolved feelings.

In this sweeping melodrama, loyalties are tested, class lines are drawn, and the line between love and obligation becomes blurred. The narrative invites viewers to witness how one man’s search for happiness collides with the complexities of family history, and how forgiveness and resilience might—or might not—offer a path forward. The tension between what is expected and what the heart desires remains a persistent undercurrent, shaping the destinies of all involved.
