What Is Night Drum About?
The premise of Night Drum without spoilers.
After a year serving his shogun in Edo, samurai Hikokuro returns home to wife Dane, hearing rumors of her affair with a famed drummer. To protect his honor, the family orders an inquiry. Witnesses recount the drummer’s tutoring of the heir, the rumor‑spreader’s motives, and the truth, revealing flaws in bushidō; it adapts Chikamatsu’s 1706 play.
