What Is Jet Pilot About?

John Wayne plays U.S. Air Force pilot Jim Shannon, assigned to escort a Soviet flyer (Janet Leigh) who claims she wants to defect during the height of the Cold War. Shannon falls in love, marries her, then discovers she is a spy sent to steal military secrets.
