Janet Leigh was born in Merced, California, U.S. in 1927. Credited on films since 1947, as an actor. The background, training and the roles that shaped the career.

Janet Leigh, born as Jeanette Helen Morrison on July 6, 1927, was an American actress famed for her role in Alfred Hitchcock's horror film Psycho. Hailing from Stockton, California, Leigh was discovered at 18 by actress Norma Shearer, leading her to sign a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. During her tenure with MGM, she appeared in numerous films ranging from dramas like The Romance of Rosy Ridge (1947) to westerns like The Naked Spur (1953). After her marriage to actor Tony Curtis in 1951, she went on to star in significant films such as Safari (1956) and Orson Welles' Touch of Evil (1958). Her critical acclaim peaked with Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), a role for which she won a Golden Globe and earned an Academy Award nomination. Leigh's career in film extended over five impressive decades and included success in screen and stage credits. Beyond acting, she also penned four books between 1984 and 2002, two of which were novels. Janet Leigh passed away on October 3, 2004, after a year-long fight against vasculitis.
