During the Korean War, Dean Olmstead designs a long-range radio transmitting and tracking device for the United States Air Force. In a tense test, Capt. Tom Arnett and an escort of North American F-86 Sabre jet fighters watch as Olmstead’s B-25 Mitchell is shot down over hostile terrain. His commanding officer, Col. Catlett, orders a bold rescue, convinced Olmstead is alive and may be under interrogation by Soviet agents working with the North Koreans.
