Reporter Skip Hanlon is stuck in Deep Harbor, a port town where nothing ever seems to happen and his career feels stalled, leaving him hungry for a real break. He crosses paths with Janey Fowler, a woman who carries the tension of family ties on her shoulders, as her father Milo Fowler captains a small charter boat that quietly serves a dangerous purpose. The conspiracy unfolds when the syndicate uses Milo’s boat to shuttle gangsters out of the country. In a brutal turn, a mobster on Milo’s boat cold-bloodedly kills one of the escapees, and the body is dumped overboard with an anchor chained to the legs, a stark symbol of their ruthless method.
