Air Hostess 1933

During World War I, pilot Bob King is shot and killed in France, leaving behind his daughter, Kitty King. Two of his closest friends, Ted Hunter and Pop Kearny, vow to look after her, a duty supported by Pop’s wife Ma Kearny. Years after the war, Pop Kearny, now blind, works at an airport as an engine expert, while Kitty King continues to work as a stewardess for TWA. Their guardianship remains steady, though often meddling, as they try to steer her life from the ground to the skies she loves.

One day, a grandstanding Ted Hunter soars over the airfield and catches Kitty’s eye, drawing her into a new romance. After a night on the town, he flies her back to the airport, only to run into trouble: angry mechanics and a devoted rival, Dick Miller, who is in love with Kitty and ends up in a frightening scuffle. The afterglow of their evening fades as consequences set in, and Ted soon announces his marriage to Kitty, insisting she quit her glamorous job. When Ted proves unable to make a living, Dick Miller steps in to help Kitty get her job back, sparking a renewed but uneasy balance among the three of them.

Into this volatile triangle enters Sylvia Carleton, a wealthy, three-time divorcee who offers Ted a bold chance: to design a radical new aircraft capable of flying across the Pacific. Their collaboration in Albuquerque devolves into farce when Kitty and Dick arrive to find both Ted and Sylvia intoxicated, a scene that leaves Kitty angry and headed for home. The emotional rift sets the stage for a tense journey back to the safety of familiar routes, even as the project promises glory.

Kitty soon departs by train, a route that Ted and Dick fear is headed toward a collapsing bridge. In a desperate bid to avert disaster, both men take to the skies—Ted racing ahead to warn the engineer and Dick racing to intercept their approach. Ted crash-lands on the tracks and wrecks his plane, yet his dramatic intervention stops the train just in time. In the aftermath, Dick manages to fly Ted back to the hospital with Kitty, and the film closes on a reconciled pair, grateful for a second chance and the stubborn, enduring bond of friends who looked after Kitty all along.
