In 1840, during the Second Seminole War, Gen. Zachary Taylor sends naval Lt. Richard Tufts and the hardened scout Monk to a remote Florida island home, where the reclusive Quincy Wyatt lives with his five-year-old son. Their mission is precise: destroy an old Spanish fort that has become a base for Spanish gunrunners aiding the Seminoles, and Taylor urges Wyatt to lead the small, careful strike force despite the captain’s reluctance to join the action.
