Radha Mitchell is an Australian actress whose career spans more than three decades, beginning with a childhood role on the ABC TV series Sugar and Spice in the late 1980s and evolving into a prominent presence in both Australian television and Hollywood cinema. Born Radha Rani Amber Indigo Ananda Mitchell on 12 November 1973 in Melbourne, Victoria, she grew up near the Como Centre where her mother owned a shop, attended St Michael's Grammar School, and later earned a BA in literature and media studies from Swinburne University of Technology after briefly considering a career in psychology. Mitchell first gained national attention as Catherine O'Brien on the soap opera Neighbours (1996–1997), a performance that opened doors to international projects and showcased her ability to portray strong‑minded, opinionated characters.
