Kristin Scott Thomas

Dame Kristin Ann Scott Thomas DBE is a celebrated British actress known for her roles in award-winning films and theatre productions. She made her movie debut in Under the Cherry Moon (1986) and received the Evening Standard Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer for A Handful of Dust (1988). She is a five-time BAFTA Award and Olivier Award nominee, winning the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) and the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2008 for The Seagull. Notable performances include The English Patient, Mission: Impossible, The Horse Whisperer, and Tomb Raider. In 2015, she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to drama, having been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2003 Birthday Honours. Scott Thomas was born in Redruth, Cornwall, and, due to the influence of her drama studying mother, developed an interest in acting from an early age.
