While working for Mrs. Van Hopper, portrayed by Ann Dowd, in the glamorous setting of Monte Carlo, a young woman becomes entangled with Maxim De Winter, played by Armie Hammer, a recent widower. Their romance blossoms during a brief courtship at the hotel where both are staying, especially when Mrs. Van Hopper falls ill and is advised to rest by her doctor. The couple marries and travels to Maxim’s grand estate, Manderley, where she encounters the imposing housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers, portrayed by Kristin Scott Thomas. Amidst the tension of legal troubles, Tom Goodman-Hill as Frank Crawley stands by the couple, while Mrs. Danvers attempts to further complicate matters. The trial exposes the truth about Rebecca’s past, revealing her relationship with Favell and casting shadows upon Maxim. Ultimately, evidence proves Rebecca could not have been pregnant due to an illness, suggesting suicide as the reason behind her demise. In a climactic turn of fate, Maxim is absolved, but when they return to Manderley, they find it engulfed in flames—a devastating act committed by the vengeful Mrs. Danvers.

The tale reaches its poignant climax on the cliffs, where Mrs. De Winter pleads with Mrs. Danvers not to jump to her death which she ultimately does, leaving behind a haunting legacy.
